Art at The Farmhouse | Botanical Printmaking 102, November 12, 6:00-8:30pm and November 14, 4:00-5:00pm
After a wonderful response to our Botanical Printmaking workshops, The Seasoned Farmhouse is delighted to welcome Grace Johnson back for Botanical Printmaking 102, an advanced exploration of this beautiful natural-dye technique.
Designed for participants who have completed Grace’s Botanical Printmaking 101 workshop or who have previous botanical printmaking experience, this class will build on the fundamentals of eco-printing and explore more layered techniques, materials, and color.
Using seasonal botanicals and natural dyes inspired by the rich palette of autumn, participants will create a textile piece featuring deeper tones, varied textures, and more intentional compositions. Grace will guide the group through the ways different fibers, mordants, tannins, plant materials, and natural dye sources interact, with a greater emphasis on experimentation and developing your own approach to botanical printing.
Expect a warm, seasonal palette inspired by late autumn, with possibilities ranging from earthy oranges and golden tones to rich reds and other colors drawn from natural materials available at the time of the workshop.
As with Botanical Printmaking 101, this workshop takes place over two dates. During the first session, participants will design and bundle their pieces with Grace. She will then steam the finished bundles before everyone returns to The Farmhouse for the much-anticipated reveal.
November 12 from 6:00-8:30pm
Advanced botanical printmaking techniques and dyeing
November 14 from 4:00-5:00pm
The reveal of your finished piece, ready to take home
Prerequisite: Participants should have completed Botanical Printmaking 101 with Grace Johnson or have previous experience with botanical printmaking.
All materials will be provided.
Instructor: Grace Johnson
